I am working towards going green off grid but statements like this (145 countries could meet 100% of their business-as-usual energy needs with wind, water, solar and energy storage.) are absurd and indicate a lack of understanding what is required and reality. Nothing wrong with going green but speaking to everyone like they are simple minded followers offends me greatly. FYI, Europe was well along with implementation and now many fear they might freeze to death this Winter.

Mark Hutchins, do you have the complete study from Energy & Environmental Science? I see they want around $54 for it. There are at least two of us here that would like to see how the study authors came up with how using Wind, Water, and Solar would reduce energy usage by 56.4%. I assume this has at least something to do with the energy required to pump, transport, and refine crude oil but that doesn’t add up to nearly enough to reach the percentage the study indicates. How did they come up with that number? Thanks

So let me get this straight, part of the plan is to reduce energy consumption by 56% around the world? We have a real problem here, stuff like this doesn’t help. I know it’s not popular, but can we have real common sense conversations please?
